March 2011
Dear Friends,
We at Black River Good Neighbor Services deeply appreciate
the outgoing support of you, our generous neighbors in Ludlow,
Cavendish, Proctorsville, Plymouth, Mount Holly, Belmont, and all
over the state and country.
Our capital campaign began with a plea to help us find the
means to move into a more suitable space so that we could better
accomplish our mission.
We have made that move and we are now in the process of finalizing
the finances with our new landlord – the town of Ludlow.
However, just because we have moved does not mean that we
have met all of our fundraising goals.
We still have a building for sale – our old location at 105
Main Street – and once it sells we can pay the town in total for
renovation costs on our new location.
Until then we are in the position of paying substantial rent
– money that should go to our main mission, providing food for those
in need. We are
optimistic about selling and we are hopeful that it will occur soon.
Meanwhile, there are other things that we are putting off
until we can raise more funds.
For example, we need carpeting and fatigue mats.
The cold, hard concrete floor is tough on our volunteers and
employees as well as on our customers and clients.
We also need to replace our lineup of freezers and coolers.
The energy that these units use is expensive and a large, new
unit could cut our costs dramatically.
We could use a better front door, new trash handling
equipment, and blinds for the front windows.
These are short term goals and we simply do not have the
money for them now.
Please know that we are extremely grateful for all that you
have done for us. We
are continuing our capital campaign for the immediate future and
greatly appreciate any further support that you can give.
I don’t just mean donations either.
Please come to our rummage sale and take home a treasure!
Thanks for being
Thanks for being there for us.
Sincerely,
Peter
